To establish a multipoint conference using
the campus bridge, it is necessary for your
videoconference system to be registered with the UF Gatekeeper.
Instructions are available elsewhere for connecting a
VS,
VSX
or
PVX
system to the UF Gatekeeper.
After registering with the UF Gatekeeper, begin by
connecting to the UF/Codian bridge. Make a video call to the 7830000
address.
A welcome message will be heard when connected.

Create a New Conference
To create a new conference ID, follow the audio/video directions.
Either use the ARROW keys to select "* Create new conference"
and RIGHT ARROW to move to the next menu
or
enter an " "
from the remote control keypad
(for
PVX, open the "Control and than Keypad tab"
to display the numeric keys)
You will be asked for the "Conference
number to create"
Using the numeric keypad, enter a unique multi-digit number followed by

keypad, make sure you have pressed the " "
key TWICE and that the numeric keypad graphic is displayed in the upper
right-hand side of the screen.)

 |
Create a PIN (PASSWORD) - OPTIONAL
As an option, you will be asked to enter a "New conference PIN".
The PIN is a private password that can be used to protect access to the
newly created conference. If you wish to limit access to only selected
individuals you should created a PIN. This PIN and associated conference
number must be provided to all participants before the conference so
they know both the conference number and PIN before they connect.
Attempts to join the conference will be blocked without the correct PIN.
To create a PIN, use the numeric keypad to enter a multi-digit number
followed by the "#" key.
If a PIN is not needed, enter the "#" key or just wait a few seconds and
you will enter the new conference without a PIN being created.
|
|
When
finished entering the conference number and PIN, you will be connected
to the conference just created. The output from your camera will be
displayed along with a message, "You are currently the only
participant". As other participants connect to the conference after
selecting the appropriate conference number and entering the correct
PIN, if created, their video image will automatically be added to the
display. The conference can begin when all participants have
successfully connected.
Conference Connection Shortcut
It is possible to easily connect to a preexisting
multipoint video conference ID on the Codian without navigating through
the menu system. Instead of entering the 7830000 address to connect to
the Bridge menu, enter the conference ID provided by the organizer of
the conference you wish to join. Conference IDs for registered
conferences can be found on the
Video Conference Event Listing web site.
If a PIN (password) has been assigned to the conference
you will be required to enter it manually before your connection will be
established. Be sure to press both the "FAR" and "#" keys on your
remote control before entering the numeric PIN.
If the conference ID number you enter is invalid or not
ready for use, you will be connected to the Codian entry menu. You can
either create the conference yourself or call back at a later time to
join the conference. |
