The IFAS IVnet Videoconference Notebook provides a comprehensive collection of descriptive information as a resource for decision makers, users and supporters. The 100+ page notebook is divided into small sections that address specific issues. You can pick and choose which sections are of interest to your current need. There is something for everyone. Content level  ranges from simple to complex depending on the topic selected.

  • Potential videoconference users are provided with general information as an introduction and background history to this expanding technology. It is provided to help understand the progression of development from inception to the current state of operation. With this understanding it is easier to see how this technology can be useful to improve communication within the Institute and our collaboration with the rest of the world.

  • Once a decision is made to pursue implementation, specific recommendations and prices are provided to help with selecting the appropriate model. The lowest educational prices available are provided for budget purposes. Contact information is provided to help with the decision making and acquisition process.

  • New user who have purchased videoconference equipment are provided instructions for setup, configuration and operation of their new equipment. A free program and data file is available for download to automatically populate the on-line address book with all IFAS videoconference sites to simplify connectivity between units.

  • A support structure is defined to help users seek and find help with questions and issues that may arise. A variety of avenues are available for obtaining support including mail list serves, web discussion forums, local contact list, Help Desk, etc.

  • Seasoned users or technical support staff can delve into the large collection of technical documents provided as reference material. The 3600+ pages address the many diverse aspects of videoconferencing.

This growing document will continue to be a work-in-progress as new technologies and features are incorporated into the expanding IFAS videoconference system.
