The cables that come with the HDX microphones are limited in length. It is either 15 feet (2457-23216-001 = ~$12) or 25 feet (2457-23215-001 = ~$14) in length. If the codec is in close proximity, this is not a problem. But, many times the codec is located on a shelf close to the HD camera or in a cabinet. To position the microphone closer to the speakers may require extending the length beyond the limits of the standard cables. To do this it is possible to use cat-5 cable to extend the distance up to 100 feet. However, it will require building custom cable connectors. Instructions for doing this are available in the "HDX Integrators Guide", pages 53-55. These pages are shown below.
