Startup

When the power switch is turned on, if the cables are connected correctly and the TV set to the proper channel, the following events will occur:

the camera will swivel from one side to the other and than face forward and stop

an audio sound will  be generated by the Polycom unit while

the spinning Polycom logo screen appears on the TV

the starting screen will be displayed with the current camera view and available menu options

the light below the camera will turn on, flash yellow and than show a solid green color

a flashing yellow IP symbol will appear near the bottom of the screen. It will continue to blink while waiting for network connectivity.

If the icon continue to flash yellow, check the Ethernet cable and the wallplate connections. Make sure the Ethernet cable is in the correct LAN socket colored orange. IT should not be in the ISDN socket colored green or the LAN socket colored blue. Confirm that the green light next to the socket is on.

After a few seconds the flashing yellow symbol should change to a sold green IP symbol when the Internet connection is completed.

A few seconds later the symbol will be replaced by the IP address of the Polycom unit

If the unit was also configured to be connected to a Gatekeeper, than a second yellow icon with the letters GK would also be present. It will continue to flash until Gatekeeper connectivity has been established.

After a few seconds the flashing yellow symbol should change to a sold green GK symbol when the Gatekeeper connection is completed.

When all network connections have been successfully made the IP address will remain on the screen while the connection symbols and picture will disappear.

If at any time the VC unit remains inactive for the specified period of time, the camera will turn to the side, the screen will go blank and the light on the front of the VC unit will flash green. All that is necessary to reactivate the display is to just lift the remote control which will cause the small switch on the bottom to signal activity. If the remote control is placed on its side, touching either switch on the bottom will reactivate the display.

If the Polycom VC unit has been configured to meet your specific needs and environment, it is ready for your use to initiate or receive a VC call.

Begin by becoming familiar with the remote control for your specific VC unit.
